U12 & U9 Bulldogs look solid in their debut matches

May 2,  2010 -- The U12 and U9 Essex County Rugby Bulldogs took the pitch for their first official match of the 2010 Spring season against the North Shore Trailblazers on Sunday, May 2nd, at Playstead Field in West Newbury.

For many of the kids, it was their first rugby match of their lives. Showing no signs of pregame jitters or ill effects from the heat and humidity, the kids did what came naturally -- running, passing the ball, scoring, and doing their best to defend against a skillful group of kids from North Shore.

As always with youth rugby, it was a great learning experience for coaches, players and parents alike. We took home some good lessons about team work, sportsmanship, and some key areas for improvement for the coming weeks.

Big thanks to the kids for putting on a great display, and to the families for coming out and supporting the team.
